After reading the case study, create a leadership plan. In creating the leadership plan, discuss the daughter and father in terms of the following required elements:
· Leadership role
· Leader as individual
· Social architect
· Change agent
Ø Father as a manager with short-term goal orientation
Ø Daughter as a leader with long-term goal orientation
· Relationship builder
· How can the daughter and father use the concept of moral compass to give direction to the implementation of a vision and contribute to the success and sustainability of the company?
Required Formatting of the Paper:
· This report should be double spaced, 12-point font, and five to seven pages in length excluding the title page and reference page;
· Use headings;
· Writing should be clear and concise;
· Write in the third person;
· Use APA formatting for at least 3 in-text citations and reference page. You are expected to paraphrase and not use quotes. Deductions will be taken when quotes are used and found to be unnecessary;
· No dictionary or encyclopedia definition or use of wiki files;
· Use outside credible sources;
As I look at the indicated components for Paper #2 in the Week 6 Content area, I see that the course developers refer to such things as leadership roles, the leader as an individual, change agent, relationship builder, etc.
I see too that the course developers refer to “…create a leadership plan…”. As you recall from the Leader/Manager paper, this includes such things as organizational goals, mission & vision, organizational culture & structure, etc.
After carefully considering the above issues, issues, here is a basic framework or model for what students should do as they write the paper.
—Determine and then discuss at least 4 or 5 issues, problems, etc., that you think are critical for the leader(s) of the organization to consider and then take action on (for the company) given the situation in the case study. *Why do you think these are key issues?
—Discuss at least 4 or 5 Leadership theories or concepts that you think are important to address the case study situation. Why do you think that these are important and worthwhile? Examples leadership theory to use (Great man theory, Trait theory, Role theory, Lewins leadership style, Cognitive theory, Fiedler’s Least preferred Coworker theory, Strategic contingencies theory, or any others listed at http://changingminds.org/disciplines/leadership/theories/leadership_theories.htm
—Using the key theories/concepts that you identified, make at least 4 or 5 recommendations to the leader(s) related to what you (as a Consultant) think she/he should do to help make the company be successful in the short term and in the long term. Discuss why you think these recommendations are worthwhile.
For example, as one possible approach here, a student might address some relevant Leadership concepts/theories and related recommendations in the following areas;
—The goals of the organization
—The organizational culture & structure that would be necessary to help achieve the key company goals.
––The Leadership roles that the key individuals in the case study should assume.
––The balance of a short-term and long-term orientation that will be necessary for the company to be successful.
Again, each student can use some reasonable discretion and creativity as s/he discusses *Why s/he is making the recommendations for the leaders of the company based on some relevant Leadership concepts & theories.
